We’re pleased to be holding our fifth annual Cheering Volunteering awards and celebration event during National Volunteers Week, on Tuesday 4 June at the Grove Theatre, Dunstable.

Having grown in success and popularity, Cheering Volunteering is organised by us, working in partnership with the volunteer centres as part of Central Bedfordshire Together, to say thank you to those who give their time to help others. We sponsor the event along with Grand Union Housing, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, ProLogis and Jeakins Weir. The event will combine entertainment with the award presentations.

Award categories

Seven awards will be presented:

  • Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Volunteer Group of the Year
  • Outstanding Contribution
  • Lifetime Achievement
  • Sport and Wellbeing Volunteer of the Year
  • Panel's Choice

How to nominate

Nominations are open from Monday, 14 January 2019.

You’ll then have almost three months to nominate in as many categories as you like. But you can’t nominate the same volunteer in more than one category. Entries will close at midday on Monday, 8 April 2019.

You can also apply to the Inspiring Volunteering grant scheme.

Applications can be made from Monday, 14 January 2019.

There’s a total funding pot of £5,000 available for projects which encourage volunteering or kick-start new activities involving volunteers.

Grant awards will be made from a minimum of £100 to a maximum of £1,000. Applications for funding will close at midday on Monday, 8 April 2019.
